Nachos nachos!

(pic taken from www.foodpoi.com cos i forgot to snap maself)

For the nachos lovers out there...you will loveeeeeeeeeeeeee this place. I used to rush to Chili's everytime i crave for nachos. But ive found an alternative..with a more affordable price tag too!

Welcome Nachos Nachos to my love-for-food-life! Situated at such strategic place in Giant Kota Damansara. You can find all kinds of nachos there.

I had mixed quesadillas and Aze had beef fajista. The quesadillas was awesomeeeeeeeeeeeee. The chicken and beef was just so damn tender. Aze's was nice too. But the beef was a lil over cooked. Maybe cos of the sizzling. So tip; if you order fajitas..make sure to tell em not to over-cook it ;)

However the guacamole is an expensive add on. RM 3 each! But worth it la. Both of our meals, plus 2 guacamole and 2 drinks came up to RM50+-. So roughly RM25 each. Not so bad eh? :D

If only the waiters were mexican... :p

Vincenzo One Bangsar

So last 27th May we celebrated Aze's birthday at Vincenzo One Bangsar. We were given a private room for our so-called-party. Ofcourse I added some 'spices' to the dish; helim balloons! BEST! hehehe.

Anyways, a highly recommended place for a special function/dinner with friends or fam. The outdoor sitting is beautiful and if u want a private one like us, you could just call up and make reservation.

Shafiq, Thana and myself reached earlier to set the place. Then the party-pooper-bday-gal came before the rest..30mins early! So since we were starving we ordered ma fav, escargot. NYUMMY!!

There were 7 of us. Mady and I ordered the same; moon-shape pizza..nyummy! but recommended for sharing. Shana ordered some salmon cream spaghetti. Very nice but very easy jelak. Shafiq had pesto. Aze and eeleng had aglio-olio look a like but with big prawns. Thana had hawaiian pizza.

The environment is top notch la. The food are nice but a lil pricey. There are menus of meals of up to RM800bucks each! CRAZY!!!

For more info you can login to their page at http://www.vincenzo-ristorante.com/home.html

Enjoy!!

The Loaf - a must visit bistro!

I'm gonna start my post with rating

(1 lowest, 5 highest)

Food: 5
Portion: 5
Service: 4 (the staff's eng pronunciation needs to be improved)
Environment: 5 - private
Price: 5 (as in really high priced :P)
Value for money: 5!

I must say, this is ma new fav bistro. Not just 'cos of the food and the environment and what not, but just the whole experience! I first tried out The Loaf a few weeks back with Aze and Aini after our warehouse trip at Istana Hotel. We were blown awayyyy! How nice can an ice lemon tea be?? But the one at The Loaf really made me crave for more! Ish..

Anyways, decided to throw a special bday dinner for Eeleng's 25th, so the gals (and da 2 guys) gathered at The Loaf for dinner. Here's what we had..

Shafiq: Lamb Rack - a must try for lamb lovers. (the lamb smell is pretty strong tho)

Aze: Beef terderloin - Awesomely different..it has wasabe in the dressing!

Eeleng: Carbonara - nyumm!

Shana & Thana: Arabic Lamb Sandwich - highly recommended!

Mady & me: Salmon Steak  - recommended!

The portion is JUST NICE. So you can still opt for desserts afterwards. Try the cheese cups from U-hu-hu at Level 3 (still within The Loaf)..awesome!!!

All in all..we had a great time. I would definitely recommend this place. You guys have gotta try it! But make sure you have the cash to spend (esp on the steaks) ;)

Astaka Padang Brown..a must visit!

You have gotta try food from Astaka Padang Brown in Penang if you ever go up there. Orang penang panggil "padang berom"...derives from Brown Field next to the food garden.

The shops are only open for dinner. By 6+ you can visit. 1 row is just dedicated for Chinese, open from 5 onwards and the other row is dedicated for Halal food.

My all time fav will be the Char Hor Fun from Rina Special. It's located nearly at the end of the row. (btw you can order from anywhere and sit anywhere and your food will still reach you. :D)

The CNY break we went back to Penang, papa brought Shafiq, Aini and myself there to feed ma cravings. We had awesome Yong Tou Foo from Majid Celur-Celur, a must-try mee goreng mamak next to it ( YOU MUST TRY THIS!) and like I said ma-all-time-fav, char hor fun from Rina Special! The last time I had it was way back in high school...and it still taste the same! ALL OF IT!

Where Rina Special is located

Youve gotta try this char hor fun!

Find for that sign for the best cendol & ice kacang!

Yummy~!!!
These restaurants has been here since ma mom's generation. Another must try is the Cendol...from this chinese drink shop in the middle of the row. It's the only Chinese drnk shop in this bz row..with the sign reading "Ais Krim Campur Ais Kacang". SEDAP SIOT! the ais kacang also. :D memang evergreen. The father used to sell during ma mom's time, now the son selling. Dunno if the father still around. Back in highschool days he was.

So, make sure you visit Padang Brown the next time you head to Penang. It's located at Penang Road. Just ask anyone from Penang for direction. Just say "how to get to padang brom?" and you will get there. :D

Rumahku...home to ma tummy!

If you guys are looking for good Malay food..this is the place! It's located at Plaza Kelana Jaya in Kelana Jaya (next to the lake). Rumahku serves all kind of food...from the lauk-pauk buffet (lunch hour only) and the fried stuff. But the MUST TRY is the Nasi Ayam Timble! It's similar to nasi ayam penyet except that the chicken is not penyet and the dishes are more! Even the price is more worth it!

Nasi Ayam Timble comes with white rice (wrapped in banana leaf), fried 1/4 chicken, sambal ikan bilis, 4 types of ulam (including petai!), sambal belacan, keropok and gulai daging nangka (sedapppp!)

It is served in a flat anyaman bakul..so if u need to bring a foreigner to try malay food that is not too spicy..this dish is perfect as the serving is appealing too. :D

Shafiq have tried the nasi goreng daging kicap and tomyam here...and they are both yummy too!

So for those who live in Kelana Jaya...make sure u try it out at Plaza Kelana Jaya, SS7 (new buildings) next to the lake. As for the rest, come down and try it..u will not regret. :D The restaurant is just next to the lake so the view is pretty calming. :)

Kapitan, Penang...to die for!!

This is like a must visit restaurant for me now whenever i go back to Penang. I just loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the food! Especially the fluffy and soft naan and tandoori..and the awesome teh tarik...*drooling*!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ma fav Kapitan outlet will be the one next to Gurney Hotel at Gurney drive. There's another one in town, Chulia Street and another opposite Queensbay mall. But i love the one at Gurney cos of the atmosphere and the setting. So calming. :)

I went for 'tea' with Shafiq and Aini just now. How can we just sit there with teh tarik la?? (Aini can la..). I had ma usual garlic naan and tandoori..sedap nak mampus! Shafiq had butter cheese naan with 'mutton fry'; more like dry-curry like la, which was just juicy and tender...perfect lah!

tengok warna pun dah tau sedap!

shafiq's mutton

butter cheese naan

my garlic naan with the awesome juicy tandoori

U guys who LOVE indian food..should definitely visit Kapitan whenever you visit Penang. There are 3 branches so shouldnt be that difficult for you to try. But ma recommendation will be this outlet as the parking is much easier to find. :D

Make sure to visit Kapitan!!!

Alexis crappy!

Aze decided to get together with the gals (& shafiq) for a dress-up dinner, so we decided to eat out last Fri before shana and maself balik Penang for CNY. From Vincenzo we decided to go to Alexis in BSC, Bangsar instead (which was a hugeeeeeeeeeeeee mistake!).
The atmosphere was nice ofcourse. Not too fancy nor too casual. Suitable for us gals who dressed up; especially Shana! hahahaha. There are no jazzy performances in BSC's outlet except for in Ampang's. Told u Shana!

So we all ordered our food. Shana had to change her order twice cos they were out of what she wanted. Wth?? We ended up asking the waiter "y dont u tell us what is there. pls recommend". So he recommended this dish..gosh i have to ask shana for the name. It was wholemeal bread with tomato and eggplant! hahahaha. Aze had this pathetic duck coffit with loaddsss of leafs (looked like a meal for cow la..), Shafiq had aglio olio with lobster, Thana had mushroom & chicken pie and I had Nasi Istimewa Alexis, which were laughed at when I ordered. NOW WHO IS LAUGHING?? that was the only REAL meal that night! hahahahhahahaha

The only descent food around

Is this cow food or what..?

The aglio olio

Shana's pathetic meal!

The other descent food

this dessert is a must try! padova i think the name...
The food was just iuurrrghh man! Only ma meal and Thana's was ok. Shafiq's wasnt so bad but he totally didnt enjoy it. Thank God the dessert was nyummyy!
So ma suggestion, only go to Alexis for dessert and the jazz music (Ampang outlet). :P

Nyumm..NOT!

c h o c o l a t e ....

The one stop to chocolate heaven man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously cant describe it. It's just damn awesome!!! Aze, Shafiq and myself have always wanted to try it..so we did for lunch today. I had Quiche Lorraine with Spices, Shafiq had Cream Pepper Chicken Crepe and Aze had the sweet dish, Chocolate, Nuts, Biscuit Crumble & Sultana Crepe. Omg....each and every one of the dish was just awesome! On top of that we cream it up with Snow White Frappe, Fair Lady Frappe and Ms Cocca Mocha Frappe.

Seriously chocolate lovers have GOT TO try this cafe!!!! The price range is not so bad either. It was RM 78+ for all that. :D (tq aze!)

c h o c o l a t e is located at 2nd flr new wing One Utama (opposite Maybank2u area).

Nyummmmmmmm~

Breakfast at Kris Sakti

This is like our fav restaurant for Malay breakfast. They serve from Nasi lemak to Roti Arab, all types of roti canai, lontong, nasi dagang, soto ayam (i loveeeee), roti jala, and many many many more lah!

So today I brought Aze there with Shafiq for breakfast. Both em had nasi lemak ayam with tempe goreng, begedel and Aze had additional fried egg. I had nasi dagang and shared a bowl of soto ayam with shafiq. Im not sure how great the nasi lemak was la. But looking at the clean empty plates I would say must have been good. The nasi dagang was not bad but Ive had better.

The Soto ayam is just my fav! Clear chicken soup with just enough ingredients of nasi impit, raw taugeh, begedel, daun bawang, bawang goreng and cili kicap! nyammmmmm!

I will recommend the roti arab, roti jala, lontong, roti canai and soto ayam ofcourse! :D
The price range is just average though. Our 4 dishes and drinks came up to RM25+

Anyways, the restaurant is in SS5. Will post the address soon :)

Sri Ayutthaya - Thai heaven

Finally I'm calling it Ayutthaya...all these while...Ill call this restaurant Sri Altantuya! HAHAHAHHAHAHA.

So..Shafiq and I had double dates with Eeleng and Mady for lunch yesterday at Sri Ayutthaya, Damansara. Walaupun ala2 broke..but when it comes to food...aih..Shafiq and I just can't resist it lah!

We had tomyam seafood each, and mady tomyam vege (which took him soooooooo long to decide) :P. Main dishes are the usuals, green curry beef, kailan salted fish and squid with garlic and pepper. SOOOOOOOOOOOO nice! But the tomyam spiciness is not efficient. the last time i came with shana and thana, it was just too damn spicy! Yesterday's was just perfect! Even the green curry wasnt too spicy.

A lil dissappointed with the garlic squids tho..it wasnt so nice. The squids was weirdly-soft.

We ordered Miang Kum for appertizer but was dissappointedly not sent cos the stupid waiter didnt write it down. Ish!

For dessert Shafiq and Mady had Mango with sticky rice where as Eeleng and I shared a bowl of Mango Sago. It was delicious..except that it would have been even more mouth watering if the mango was a lil more ripe.

All in all it was pretty good. The price range is a lil pricey...around RM50+ per head. Because I know how nice the food are there, a lil dissappointments on mishaps here and there are forgiven la kan.. :P

You guys can try it out at Damansara Heights, same row as Victoria Station.

Monte's nyumy~~!

Last Sat Shafiq, Shana and myself had lunch at Monte's in Bangsar Shopping Centre. It wasn't ma first time there, and the last time I went I had Spicy Salmon which was interesting and delicious. But don't expect it to be spicy as in hot or pedas because the Spicy there means 'spices' and berempah as the spicy-sauce was curry-like.

Anyways, we all ordered mushroom soup, Chargrilled Lamb for Shafiq, Steak Salmon for me and Pan Grilled Red Snapper for Shana. The service was ok. We didn't have to wait so long for our food. Even if we had to, it was worth the wait.

My salmon was just awesome! It came with baked potato and salad and honey mustard sauce which I love. But my advice, make sure to ask for more of the mustard sauce cos it will not be enough! :P

Shana's red snapper was soooooo soft and nice. The mango just add an exquisite taste to it.
Shafiq's lamb was just sooooooooooooo tender man. Juicy, sweet and ..aih...mouth watering sungguh!

The price range is around 28 and above. I think Shafiq's lamb was 30++. But it was worth it!

Try it out at 1st flr BSC (it's aboce LaBodega).
You can make reservation too at 03-20941112.

I'm Addicted to Nasi Ayam Penyet!

Since I came back from Johor, I've been addicted to Nasi Ayam Penyet!!! The one I had from Sagget Recipe at the gazebo beside the Tamil temple between Kota Raya and City Square in JB was just soooooooooooooo nice! Just thinking of it make me drool! The bonus was that it has a lot of ulam. Such a humble dish yet damn delicious!!

I searched for a good alternative here in PJ and went for a taste 2 days ago.
Welcome Waroeng Penyet! I read a review online that it's good so Shafiq, Fatin, Mami and myself went to check it out for dinner at The Curve. It was surpringly full..with youngsters! I guess the young Indonesians enjoy lepaking there.

Anyways, Mami and I ordered Nasi Ayam Penyet, Shafiq ordered Bakso Penyet and Fatin ordered Bakso meehoon soup. It was nice! How happy I was! But i must say the one from Segget Cafe in JB is still my no.1 but thats like 400km away! So this will be a good alternative. :D

(The menu and our empty plates! Sorry la..too hungry, forgot to snap the food when it reached :P)

The price range is not so bad. Ofcourse can't compare to the one in Johor since it's located at The Curve. Mine was RM7.90 not including the rice. They charge the rice seperately (ah the ikea-trick) for RM1.90. So it's around RM9.80 a plate la.

The only downside is that the vege served was just a piece of thickly-cut cucumber and a piece of white cabbage. I wish they had added more.

For anyone of you who is interested to try a very nice ayam penyek, you should definitely try this one out. It's located at 1st flr in The Curve, near the pathway to Ikano. :)

Nyummylicious~

It's all about food~!!

God knows why I never thought of having a blog on food when I live for it! Gosh!!
Anyways, now that I've come to my senses, Ive decided to have a blog on good food that I favour..and maybe even share recipes (if I know em la..) with you guys :D
